 I've been playing with techniques from the 2013 Strathmore journal workshops. I love free workshops. I can take the techniques and do whatever I want with them. No pressure.

Lettering has captured my interest lately, so I've been doing a lot of that too, and digging up interesting quotes.

Mt Wells hike

Mt. Wells has an amazing view from the summit, which is surprisingly quick to hike up, considering it's 352m or so. Very steep and I was pondering the wisdom of carrying both the Nikon and my cup of Timmy's when I really should have had both hands free. But no falls or broken bones, so I got to enjoy my coffee and muffin with the following.

There was a whole field with these tiny moss flowers but we stayed on the trail like good hikers.

It started out nice and shady.

Once we lost the cover of the trees it was reeeeeally warm.

Fall Fell

Saturday morning with the Bean was very obviously The First Hike of Fall. Nature was being really over-the-top about it with the colours, smells and mist everywhere.

I found a free download of GIMP and so far it's pretty decent for something that makes me think of the uncomfortable scenes from Pulp Fiction. Especially since it's free and not seventy bajillion dollars like Photoshop.

Tonight I'm hooking it up to the scanner to see how it works for art stuff.
