In between packing and cleaning and more packing and more cleaning...

Fun with Instagram and my phone camera

No hiking

I broke my toe on Friday. Boo! Boo, I say!
This guy amply illustrates how I felt at being confined to walking Bean in the neighbourhood parks all weekend.

Colour Riot

The only kind of riot I fully endorse.

Stream of consciousness in Pitt pens

Experimenting with watercolour on fluid acrylic

Pencil crayon on top of fluid acrylic, iirc

Much love for Daniel Smith water colours

... especially Natural Amazonite  and Serpentine.

Playing with stamps

I picked up some Speedball carving rubber a while back and made a couple of my own stamps. One's just a chunky spiral and the other is a stylized face with scarf and wild hair. I played with them both in my watercolour journal, and drew some dried seed heads that I have sitting in with my paintbrushes, using white acrylic ink and a dipping pen.

More hiking photos from McKenzie Bight.

from the depths of my desk drawers...

... I unearthed a drawing of mine from 2001. It had a young elf cleaning her sword while a raven sat upon her helmet, and I really liked it at the time. Now, not so much. The arms are awry, the boots are weird and her helmet looks plastic. So I thought I'd try a fresh approach to her and re-draw the scene, but it kept not gelling in my head. Finally I realized that she needed to be done a different way, because I'm different now. Or at least I'm older. ;)

Watercolours, Pigma Micron pen and white pencil crayon.

I wonder what I'll think of this attempt in another nine years?
